I felt sorry for the girl. She knew everyone was laughing at her on account of her ignorance and was clearly embarrassed about it.

She was a good sport, she played along with the joke the whole way.

She's actually very clever, managing to come up with witty responses to those questions. That's like comedy 101: if you don't know what something means, just make up something about it that's absolutely ridiculous and gauge from audience reactions if you're on a good track.

Scripted. She'll have been an aspiring actress and the producers went for the dumb blonde, southern stereotype. Having already admitted she didn't know the difference between 'urban' and 'rural', there was no reason for her to say "He went to the doctor for it". She'd heard the audience laugh so she knew it was wrong. She played along. Not so dumb at all. There were set ups all the time on these shows back then and I don't think it's much different now.

I wouldn't call her stupid. Ignorant maybe, ok, but she kept her cool and managed to come out on top with a little witty banter. Your average stupid person can't do that.

Sure, she lacks basic knowledge but this was unnecessary degrading.
