No matter how sick I was, if I was home from school in an otherwise empty house. I would drag myself to the TV to watch this show. Then I would crawl back to my sickbed and pass out again. This show always made me feel better.

Watching the Gong Show was like watching a slow car accident. U know it’s bad but u can’t turn away. I grew up watching the Gong Show. U never knew what was coming on next.

Gong Show - Rowan & Martin's Laugh In - Red Skelton - Love American Style - Midnight Special - Soul Train - 3 Stooges - Truth or Consequences - The Newlywed Game - Soul Train - American Bandstand...... loved these types of shows growing up!

The audience members could be very raucous at times, which only added to the fun of the show. Today's shows are over-produced with no room for errors, which was part of the charm of "The Gong Show."

Chuck Barris was that generation's Johnny Knoxville! Very similar voices/facial expressions and humor! LOVED this show as a teen!
